OUR PURPOSE
League games are conducted according to official MLB National League rules, with only minor modifications to accommodate the adult amateur format. Players take great pride in wearing professional-style uniforms and approaching the game with the same seriousness and respect that defines baseball at its best. Beyond their dedication to excellence on the diamond, Houston Hardball League members demonstrate an unwavering commitment to their local communities and families, while upholding the highest standards of sportsmanship, integrity, and ethical conduct both on and off the field. This combination of competitive baseball and strong character has made the Houston Hardball League a cornerstone of Houston's adult baseball community for over three decades.
LEAGUE DIVISIONS
The Houston Hardball League offers four competitive divisions designed to ensure balanced competition and accommodate players at different stages of life, with two full seasons played each year—one in the Spring and another in the Fall.
Our Weeknight Division is specifically tailored for working professionals who prefer to keep their weekends free for family time and personal commitments. Games are played during the week, allowing players to maintain their competitive edge without sacrificing precious weekend hours.
The Open Division represents our highest level of competition, attracting many former collegiate and professional players who bring elite skills and experience to the field. This division plays on Sundays and features fast-paced, high-caliber baseball for those seeking the most challenging competition available.
Our 35+ Wood Bat Division plays on Sunday afternoons and provides the perfect opportunity for players to return to the game after extended time away. Whether you took years off to focus on career or family, this division welcomes you back to competitive baseball while still working around most family obligations. The wood bat requirement adds an authentic, old-school feel to the game.
Finally, for our seasoned veterans who have truly mastered the game, we offer the 55+ Division, which competes weekly on Sunday afternoons. This division celebrates the enduring love of baseball and provides age-appropriate competition for players who continue to demonstrate that passion and skill for the game never fade with age.
TOURNAMENTS
The Houston Hardball League operates under the sanction of the Men's Senior Baseball League (MSBL), a partnership that opens up exciting opportunities for members beyond local competition. National membership through MSBL provides HHL players with the chance to travel and compete in prestigious tournaments across the country and beyond, including highly coveted events held at Major League Baseball Spring Training complexes in both Arizona and Florida. These tournaments bring together elite adult baseball teams from coast to coast, offering players the unique experience of competing on the same professional-grade fields where MLB teams prepare for their seasons.
In addition to these marquee national events, MSBL membership grants access to numerous regional tournaments held throughout the year in cities across the United States. Many of these competitive regional tournaments take place right here in Texas, with events hosted in Houston and other major metropolitan areas including Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio. This extensive tournament network allows HHL members to test their skills against top-tier competition at various levels, from local showdowns to national championship pursuits, all while representing Houston on diamonds near and far.
